TotalEnergies is a global multi-energy company operating across the entire energy value chain, from oil and gas exploration and production to refining, chemicals, and low-carbon electricity generation. With operations in over 130 countries, TotalEnergies is one of the world's seven supermajor energy companies. Their North Sea operations include multiple offshore production platforms in UK and Norwegian waters.
Major electrical overhaul of a TotalEnergies offshore production platform in the North Sea, covering hazardous area equipment replacement, emergency power upgrades, and ATEX recertification.
SPIE executed a comprehensive electrical overhaul of a TotalEnergies-operated offshore production platform in the UK sector of the North Sea, one of the largest such refurbishment programmes undertaken on an operational platform. The scope encompassed full replacement of medium-voltage switchgear, modernization of emergency diesel generator systems, renewal of over 15 kilometres of power and control cabling, and replacement of all hazardous area electrical equipment across the process, utilities, and wellhead modules. Every piece of installed equipment was certified to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and IECEx standards for operation in explosive atmospheres. Offshore logistics were a critical success factor, with all materials and personnel transported by helicopter and supply vessel under strict weight and deck space constraints. The project was delivered across eight planned shutdowns over a 24-month period, with SPIE managing up to 60 offshore personnel during peak campaign phases.
- Extended platform operational life by an estimated 15 years through complete electrical renewal
- Full ATEX and IECEx recertification achieved for all hazardous area installations
- Zero lost-time incidents across 280,000 offshore person-hours
- Delivered within budget despite challenging North Sea weather conditions
- Hazardous area (ATEX/IECEx) electrical design, installation, and certification
- Offshore platform electrical refurbishment and life extension programmes
- Emergency power system design for safety-critical offshore facilities
- Offshore logistics planning and multi-campaign project delivery

Excellent reference. I have reviewed the KPIs and they are consistent with the project close-out report. Ready for the next review step.
The technical descriptions are thorough and accurate. I suggest adding a brief mention of the sustainability impact for the ESG section of future export templates.
Great work on the images. Could we add a project timeline diagram as well? That would strengthen the narrative for client presentations.
