Client Description

EDF (Electricité de France) is the world's largest nuclear power operator, managing 56 reactors across France with a combined capacity of over 61 GW. The Gravelines Nuclear Power Plant, located on the coast of northern France, is the largest nuclear power station in Western Europe with six 910 MW pressurized water reactors. The plant produces approximately 8% of France's total electricity output.

Short Description

Long-term nuclear maintenance contract covering planned preventive maintenance, outage coordination, and safety system testing across all six reactor units at the Gravelines power plant.

Long Description

SPIE holds a multi-year framework contract for electrical and instrumentation maintenance services at the Gravelines Nuclear Power Plant, supporting all six 910 MW reactor units. Our specialized nuclear-qualified teams perform planned preventive maintenance on critical electrical systems including safety-classified circuits, emergency diesel generators, and reactor protection instrumentation. During scheduled outages, SPIE deploys up to 120 technicians to execute time-critical maintenance and testing activities within the tight outage windows, ensuring units return to service on schedule. All work is performed under rigorous nuclear safety protocols, with full ALARA radiation protection management and comprehensive regulatory documentation in accordance with ASN requirements. The contract includes continuous improvement initiatives that have delivered measurable gains in maintenance efficiency and safety performance over the contract period.

Key Benefits
  • 99.7% on-time completion rate for safety-critical maintenance activities
  • 15% improvement in outage duration efficiency through optimized work scheduling
  • Zero safety incidents across 450,000 person-hours of nuclear-zone work
  • Full ASN regulatory compliance maintained throughout the contract period
SPIE Expertise
  • Nuclear-qualified electrical and instrumentation maintenance (RCC-E standards)
  • Outage management and critical path scheduling for PWR reactor units
  • ALARA radiation protection planning and dose management
  • Nuclear safety documentation and ASN regulatory compliance
