Client Description

Airbus is a global leader in the aerospace industry, manufacturing commercial aircraft, helicopters, military transport, and satellites. Headquartered in Toulouse, France, Airbus employs over 130,000 people across more than 170 locations worldwide. The A350 XWB programme represents Airbus's latest generation of wide-body aircraft, incorporating advanced composite materials and fuel-efficient technologies.

Short Description

Complete electrical infrastructure installation for the new Airbus A350 final assembly line in Toulouse, covering high-voltage distribution, industrial automation wiring, and full commissioning.

Long Description

SPIE delivered a turnkey electrical installation for the expansion of the Airbus A350 final assembly line at the Toulouse-Blagnac facility. The project encompassed the design and installation of a comprehensive high-voltage power distribution network, including 20kV/400V transformer stations, redundant power feeds, and uninterruptible power supply systems to ensure zero-downtime operations. Our teams deployed advanced industrial automation wiring for robotic assembly stations, overhead crane systems, and precision tooling equipment. The lightning protection and grounding systems were engineered to meet the stringent aerospace facility standards required by Airbus. Full testing, commissioning, and handover were completed on schedule, enabling Airbus to ramp up A350 production to meet growing global demand.

Key Benefits
  • Zero production downtime achieved during installation through phased deployment approach
  • 30% improvement in power distribution efficiency compared to previous assembly line configuration
  • Full compliance with aerospace-grade electrical safety standards (EN 61936, IEC 62305)
  • Integrated smart monitoring system enabling predictive maintenance on all critical circuits
SPIE Expertise
  • High-voltage power distribution design and installation (20kV/400V)
  • Industrial automation and robotic system wiring for aerospace manufacturing
  • Lightning protection engineering for sensitive aerospace facilities
  • Commissioning and handover management for mission-critical industrial environments
